TV Quiz Questions
There's something about television that really gets people going in a quiz. Everyone has watched it, everyone thinks they remember it well, and everyone is wrong about at least a few things. Whether it's a sitcom you watched religiously, a kids' show you'd completely forgotten existed, or an advert you can still sing the jingle to, our TV quiz rounds are designed to spark exactly those kinds of memories — and find out who actually knows their stuff when put on the spot. We've got picture quizzes, dingbat puzzles and advert rounds covering British and American television across the decades, all as instant printable PDF downloads. Print as many sheets as you need, hand them out, and you're ready to go.
Television Picture Quizzes with Answers
Our TV picture quizzes each contain 12 questions on a single printed sheet, with space for participants to write their answers directly on the page. Every quiz comes with a full quiz master answer sheet, so whoever's running the evening has everything they need. Most of our picture quizzes also include a clues version — this is the same quiz but with some letters of each answer provided as hints, so you can adjust the difficulty depending on your audience. The quizzes in this section have "Mystery" in the title, which means the photos are close-up or cropped shots rather than straightforward full images. It adds a layer of challenge that makes even the most confident quizzers think twice.
Mystery 1980s UK Sitcoms Picture Quiz
This one features 12 classic 1980s British sitcoms, and your job is to identify each show from a single close-up still. The big names are all in there — Only Fools and Horses, Blackadder and The Young Ones will get most people's hands shooting up. But the quiz also includes Girls on Top, Brush Strokes, Never the Twain and Three Up Two Down, which are the ones that sort the genuine 80s TV fans from the people who just think they are. Head over to the Etsy listing to see a full preview of the quiz before you buy. A great fit for pub quiz nights, birthday parties for anyone who grew up in that era, and anyone who still quotes Del Boy on a regular basis.

Mystery 1980s UK Kids TV Shows Picture Quiz
Twelve 1980s British children's TV shows, identified from a close-up screenshot. Danger Mouse, He-Man and Fraggle Rock are in there and most people get those fairly quickly. But Bod, Pigeon Street, Button Moon and Chocky are a different matter entirely — shows that felt like a huge part of childhood at the time and have somehow almost completely vanished from memory. That mix of the obvious and the genuinely forgotten is what makes this one work so well. You can see a full preview on the Etsy listing. Ideal for family quiz nights with older kids or adults, or as a nostalgic round at any 80s-themed event.

Mystery 1980s British TV Presenters Picture Quiz
Twelve British TV presenters from the 1980s, photographed as they looked at the time and cropped close up. Terry Wogan, Bruce Forsyth, Cilla Black and Bob Monkhouse are all here and most people will get those. But David Dimbleby, Richard Whiteley, Angela Rippon and Gloria Hunniford make things considerably trickier, and even the ones people are sure about can catch them out when they're seeing a forty-year-old photo rather than the face they think they remember. The Etsy listing has a full preview if you want to see it first. Works brilliantly as a pub quiz round or as part of a larger 80s TV-themed quiz night.

1980s US Sitcoms Picture Quiz
Twelve American sitcoms from the 1980s, each identified from a production still. The Cosby Show, ALF and Diff'rent Strokes are the obvious ones and most groups will get those without too much trouble. But Perfect Strangers, My Two Dads, Kate and Allie and It's Your Move are the ones that'll separate people who actually watched American television from those who think they did. Who's the Boss and Night Court sit in the middle — familiar to most, but harder than expected from a still. You can see a full preview on the Etsy listing. Good for quiz nights with a transatlantic flavour, or for anyone who spent a lot of time watching late-night Channel 4 reruns in the late 80s.

1990s US Sitcoms Picture Quiz
Twelve 1990s American sitcoms identified from a production still. Friends, Seinfeld, The Simpsons and Frasier are in there and will get most groups started, and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air won't trouble anyone who grew up watching it. Home Improvement, Roseanne and Married with Children are the ones that tend to catch people — shows everyone remembers in the abstract but can't always pin down from a photograph. Wings and Mad About You are the hardest. Full preview available on the Etsy listing. Works particularly well as a pub quiz round for groups with strong 90s television memories.

A dingbat is a picture puzzle where an image or combination of images represents a phrase — in this case a television show title. So Are You Being Served becomes "R Ewe Bee King Served", Fawlty Towers becomes "Fall Golf TEE Towers", and Hancock's Half Hour becomes "Hand Cocks Half Hour". The clues require lateral thinking rather than just knowledge. Each quiz contains 12 puzzles on a single printed sheet with space to write answers, and every quiz comes with a full quiz master answer sheet. Most of our dingbat quizzes also include a clues version with some letters of each answer filled in as hints. We have dingbat quizzes covering British and American TV across the decades, from the 1960s through to the 1990s.
1960s TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve 1960s American TV show titles encoded as picture clues. Batman, Bonanza, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeannie, Gilligan's Island and Hawaii Five-O are all in there. "Bun Ant Tsar" for Bonanza is one of the better clues — obvious once you see it, but it takes a moment to get there. The full quiz is available to preview on the Etsy listing. Good for quiz nights with audiences who grew up watching American television in the 1960s, or for a specialist round covering that era.

1960s UK TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve British 1960s TV show titles as picture puzzles. Coronation Street and Doctor Who are the familiar anchors. "Hand Cocks Half Hour" for Hancock's Half Hour is the kind of clue that makes people groan when they finally get it. Joe 90 is in there as "Jaw 9x10 = 90", which is genuinely clever. Dixon of Dock Green, Juke Box Jury and a few others will really test knowledge of the era. Full preview on the Etsy listing. A good specialist round for audiences with strong 1960s British television knowledge.

1970s TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve 1970s television show titles as picture puzzles, mostly American. Columbo, Charlie's Angels and Happy Days are the anchor names. The clue for Columbo is "Column Bow", which tends to click faster than you'd expect. "CHARLIE Chaplin Angels" for Charlie's Angels requires a bit more work. Kojak, Little House on the Prairie and All in the Family round out the harder end. Full preview on the Etsy listing. A good choice for pub quiz rounds with a 1970s American television theme.

1970s UK TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve British 1970s shows encoded as picture clues. Fawlty Towers, Dad's Army and Porridge are in there, which makes for an instantly competitive round — most groups will be confident going in. "R Ewe Bee King Served" for Are You Being Served is the sort of clue that either clicks in three seconds or takes most of the round. Butterflies and I, Claudius sit at the trickier end. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Great for British pub quiz audiences with memories of classic 70s TV — the big three will get people engaged and the others will sort them out.

1980s TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve 1980s TV show titles as picture puzzles. Cheers, Dallas and Knight Rider are the ones most people will get. 1980s UK TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve British 1980s TV shows encoded as picture clues. A Bit of Fry and Laurie, Bullseye, Inspector Morse, Spitting Image, Bergerac, Minder and Auf Wiedersehen Pet all appear as puzzles. "Drill BIT of Frying Pan and Lorry" for A Bit of Fry and Laurie is a good example of how the clues work — they require lateral thinking rather than just knowing the show. Auf Wiedersehen Pet as "Bye in German PET Dog" is probably the most satisfying one to solve. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Works very well as a pub quiz round for any British audience.

1990s UK TV Show Dingbats Picture Quiz
Twelve British 1990s TV shows as picture clues. Drop the Dead Donkey, Father Ted, The Vicar of Dibley and Men Behaving Badly are in there at the familiar end. Ballykissangel tends to catch people by surprise — the clue has to work quite hard to encode that name as images. "Half Eye Goth News 4 Ewe" for Have I Got News for You is either immediately obvious or completely baffling, depending on the person. Full preview on the Etsy listing. A solid choice for British pub quiz audiences with strong 90s comedy memories.

Good for any quiz night where the audience spans both British and American television, or for a dedicated soap opera-themed evening.

British TV adverts identified from a single still photograph, covering several decades of advertising from the 1980s through to 2025. The format is the same as our other picture quizzes — 12 questions on one printed sheet, space to write answers directly on the page, and a full quiz master answer sheet included. Most quizzes come with a clues version as well. The advert rounds tend to generate strong reactions. People are usually convinced they remember these perfectly, and then they see the photograph and the specific brand or character has completely slipped from memory. We've also got a couple of mascot rounds and a specialist soft drinks quiz.
1980s British Adverts Picture Quiz
Twelve British TV adverts from the 1980s identified from a still photograph. Castlemaine XXXX, Crunchie, Fairy Liquid, Pedigree Chum and Smiths Crisps are in there at the more familiar end. The AA and Natwest are the ones that tend to catch people out — the branding has changed so much since the 80s that even people who definitely saw these adverts can struggle with the photographs. Cafe Hag and Kaliber are the trickiest. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Good for any British quiz night with an 80s theme.

2025 UK Adverts Picture Quiz
Twelve current UK TV adverts identified from a still photograph. Argos, Sainsbury's, Fairy and DFS are in there at the recognisable end. British Adverts Picture Quiz
Twelve iconic British TV adverts identified from a still photograph. Smash, Hamlet cigars, Gold Blend, Milk Tray, Shake N Vac and the Hoffmeister bear are all in there — adverts that became part of the cultural furniture rather than just commercials. Yellow Pages is in there too, which tends to prompt a small argument about which specific campaign the photograph is from. Heavy on the 80s and 90s, which is when British advertising was at its most distinctive. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Our broadest British adverts round, and a good starting point if you've not tried one of our advert quizzes before.

British Christmas Adverts Picture Quiz
Twelve British Christmas TV adverts spanning several decades, each identified from a still. Sainsbury's, M&S and Aldi are in there at the familiar end. The sadly-departed Woolworths is in there too, which tends to get a reaction from anyone old enough to remember it. DFS and Footasylum round out the more recent end. The challenge with Christmas adverts is that people remember the general feeling of Christmas advertising without necessarily connecting a specific image to a specific brand — which is exactly what makes this a good quiz round. Mystery Advert Mascots Picture Quiz
Twelve advertising mascots identified from close-up photographs. Churchill the nodding dog, the Duracell bunny, the Michelin Man, Ronald McDonald, Tony the Tiger and the Honey Monster are all in there. The close-up format makes familiar faces surprisingly hard to place — the Pillsbury Doughboy and the M&M characters look very different when cropped tight. Bertie Bassett, the Tetley Tea gaffer and Pringles man round out the harder end. Full preview on the Etsy listing. These are some of the most iconic advertising characters in television history, and the mystery format means even confident groups will struggle.

Mystery British Adverts Picture Quiz
Twelve iconic British TV adverts identified from close-up stills. Hamlet cigars, Guinness, Tango and Shake N Vac are the ones most people will recognise. Bacardi Breezer, Carling Black Label, Boddingtons and Yellow Pages are the ones that'll separate people with genuine advert recall from those guessing. British Telecom, Birdseye, Hofmeister and the Electricity Board round out the quiz — several of those campaigns have faded considerably from memory. The close-up format adds a layer of challenge on top. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Very good for British audiences who remember their 80s and 90s advertising.

These were some of the most-aired adverts on British television through the 1980s and 90s, and most people have strong memories of them — though specific stills can still catch people out. People who watched a lot of ITV in the 1980s will have a clear advantage, and they'll know it.

UK Soft Drink Adverts Picture Quiz
Twelve British soft drink adverts from across the decades, identified from a still photograph. Tango and Diet Coke are the ones most people will get quickly. Kia Ora, Lilt, R Whites, Um Bongo, Quatro and Vimto sit at the harder end — several of those brands have disappeared since the adverts aired, which makes the photographs genuinely challenging. Corona and Pepsi are in there too. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Good for British pub quiz audiences, especially anyone with memories of 1980s supermarket shelves as well as television.

1970s TV Characters
You're given a TV character name and have to match them to the right 1970s show. Steve Austin goes back to The Six Million Dollar Man fairly quickly, and Archie Bunker to All in the Family. But Huggy Bear from Starsky and Hutch, Polly Sherman from Fawlty Towers, Margaret Houlihan from M*A*S*H and the Swedish Chef from The Muppet Show require more specific knowledge. The Muppet Show and Upstairs, Downstairs sit at the harder end for most groups. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Good for quiz nights with older audiences who have strong 70s TV knowledge across both British and American shows.

Soap Opera Characters
Match soap opera characters to their shows. This covers a wide range — EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, Neighbours, Dallas and Dynasty are all in there, along with some less-remembered shows like Crossroads, Eldorado, Take the High Road and Albion Market. Dot Cotton, Rita Tanner and Toadfish Rebecchi will be familiar to different audiences depending on their viewing habits. Bea Smith from Prisoner: Cell Block H will catch out anyone who thinks they know their soaps. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Best suited to groups with broad soap opera knowledge rather than specialist fans of just one show.

TV Couples Match-Up
Match famous TV couples to their shows. Homer and Marge, Ross and Rachel, Jim and Pam, and Chandler and Monica are in there and will get most groups started. But Mulder and Scully, Luke and Lorelai, Daphne and Niles, Sam and Diane, and Fran and Maxwell start to require more specific knowledge. Ricky and Lucy from I Love Lucy represents the earliest end of the timeline. Cersei and Jaime from Game of Thrones is an interesting inclusion — not a conventionally romantic pairing, which tends to cause a moment of debate. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Works well for any group with broad TV knowledge across multiple decades.

UK TV Christmas Specials

Doctor Who, EastEnders, Coronation Street and Only Fools and Horses are the ones most people will get — Den Watts, Hilda Ogden and Marlene Boyce will be familiar to anyone who watched those shows. Feathers McGraw from Wallace & Gromit is a good inclusion because that's less obviously thought of as a Christmas special. QI, Would I Lie to You, Gavin & Stacey and The Great British Bake Off represent the more recent end. Full preview on the Etsy listing. A natural fit for Christmas quiz nights with British audiences.

Julie Andrews (The Sound of Music), Sean Connery (Thunderball) and John Lennon (Help!) are the obvious ones. Clint Eastwood is in there for For a Few Dollars More, which is one of those facts people know but don't immediately connect to 1965. Diana Rigg for The Avengers and Omar Sharif for Doctor Zhivago sit at the trickier end for most groups. Full preview on the Etsy listing. Particularly good for cinema enthusiasts or any group with strong 1960s film and television knowledge.

Jill Halfpenny, Claire Sweeney, Martin Offiah, Lesley Garrett, Quentin Willson, Esther Rantzen, Diarmuid Gavin, Julian Clary and Aled Jones complete the set — a genuine cross-section of early-2000s British television and public life. The anagram clues give extra letters to work with for names that have slipped from memory. Full preview on the Etsy listing. A niche round, but a very good one for anyone who watched Strictly from the beginning or for quiz nights with a specifically British entertainment focus.
